Every employee
and consultant at Evergreen Re has been trained, tested and certified
for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act (HIPAA), the new patient privacy rules that became effective
earlier this year.
Additionally,
as part of our ongoing commitment to protect our clients and their
members' rights to privacy and safeguard the clinical information
contained in the protected health information, we have initiated
and now maintain business associate agreements with our clients
and prospects.
Further strengthening
our program to secure protected information from any accidental
or deliberate misuse, we have appointed Chief Operating Officer
Bill Whitaker to serve as the company's HIPAA compliance officer.
He is charged with making sure everyone in the organization
is trained and certified in HIPAA policy and procedures. As
the officer of the program, he is also the point person for
investigating and reporting any breach of HIPAA and securing
proper data protection throughout the organization.
