Charles Crispin is Senior Vice President of
Evergreen Re. Charles joined Evergreen Re in 1997, and was primarily responsible
for the strategic direction and corresponding rapid growth of the company.
Evergreen Re became the largest and most comprehensive broker of managed care
reinsurance under his leadership.
The company developed a series of proprietary analysis processes enabling
clients to understand and predict risk as a reinsurer would. These processes
were the result of years of development by Charles and his former partners, whom
themselves founded the actuarial consulting firm, Reden & Anders (Ingenix).
Charles has a deep understanding of managed care operations and health care
economics. His clients include health plans, health insurers, large integrated
delivery systems, capitated physician organizations, self funded employers, and
government sponsored health care programs.
In 2004, seeing the opportunity to help clients better manage explosive growth
in pharmaceutical expense, particularly from high cost, specialty
pharmaceuticals and biologics, Crispin further expanded services of the firm by
developing Evergreen Rx, the firm’s pharmacy consulting practice.
Charles ran Crispin Medical Marketing, a consultant to the health care industry
from 1993 to 1997. He developed the account management and distribution
strategies for a pioneering reinsurer of capitated provider organizations, for
whom he also served as Vice President of Marketing on a virtual basis. He also
sat on several Boards during this period and was responsible for the development
of the marketing strategy for one of the nation’s fastest growing Medicare Risk
plans.
In 1993, Charles sold Crispin Porter Bogusky, and resigned as President of the
company to pursue his interests in healthcare. By 1993, Crispin Porter Bogusky
had been twice-named as one of the nation’s top ten advertising agencies for the
quality of their work. The agency grew from a strong regional firm to a dominant
player on the national scene. One of the early strategies to gain national
recognition for the agency was to create pro bono advertising campaigns for
health care related charities.
Crispin is a graduate of the University of Florida, with a degree in Economics.
He is a member of several health plan organizations at the State and National
level, the Managed Care Reinsurance Association, the Orange Bowl Committee, and
Vistage.
Charles sold Evergreen Re to Brown & Brown (NYSE:BRO) in 2007, and continued in
his role as President and CEO until May 2010. His focus now is on working
closely with his high quality client base and mentoring others in the
organization.
