Crispin, Dowell To Speak at AHIP Business Forum in NY

Charles Crispin, President and Chief Executive Officer, Evergreen Re and Ken Dowell, Pharmacy Practice Leader, Evergreen Rx, are both scheduled to speak at the AHIP (America’s Health Insurance Plans) annual Business Forum to be held Nov. 7- 9 in New York City.

In his presentation, “Surviving the Perfect Storm: Catastrophic Risk in 2006,” Crispin will discuss why the incidence of million dollar plus catastrophic claims has tripled during the last three years. Crispin will review why traditional protection may no longer work in this new era of risk. He will also discuss how plans can predict financial results by understanding their overall risk profile and by transferring appropriate levels of risk to third parties. His presentation will take place at the Westin, New York on Wednesday, Nov.9 from 10:30-11:30 am.

Ken Dowell will speak on “Pharmacy Benefit Purchasing: Navigating the Complexities.” Dowell will advise health plans how to successfully manage prescription drug programs. Dowell will explain how health plans may be exposed to costs and expenses from formulary switching, network shaving, non-disclosed third party commissions, mail service arrangements, grants, and incentives. He will also discuss the unique risks and opportunities presented to health plans by the new Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit. His breakfast symposium is slated for Nov. 9, from 7:15-8:15 am.
