Devon Health Services, Inc. and Evergreen Re create needed solutions for healthcare concerns.

Evergreen Re Appoints Chief Operating Officer

Bill Whitaker was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Evergreen Re Incorporated. Bill brings more than 20 years of management experience and more than a dozen years of senior management health care expertise. Before joining Evergreen Re, Whitaker served as Vice President of Sales for Horizon Behavioral Services. He was also Chief Operating Officer for Magellan Specialty Health, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Foundation Health of Florida, Inc, and President of PCA Health Plans of Alabama, Inc.

Whitaker, who also brings more than 20 years experience in information systems and technology to the firm, has a bachelor degree in psychology from Troy State University and a masters' degree in management from the University of South Florida.


Evergreen Re taps head of Alabama office

Buck Howard has joined Evergreen Re as vice president and manager of its Alabama office, located in Birmingham.

Howard brings more than 13 years of managed care reinsurance and excess loss insurance to Evergreen Re, including HMO reinsurance and insolvency protection, managed transplant insurance for health plans and employers, provider excess loss insurance, and employer stop loss.

Prior to joining Evergreen Re, Howard was vice president of the medical services division for Molton, Allen & Williams in Birmingham. He also spent 15 years in the sales consulting and management recruiting industry and was national sales manager for the Southern Medical Association.

A former Auburn University football player, Howard served in Vietnam as a member of the 101st Airborne Division's Screaming Eagles.
